One drink doubles risk for Emergency Department grade injury. Three drinks carries 4.5x risk compared to no drinks.

While it is not a huge surprise, but it nevertheless represents a worldwide data sample, a research article in the November issue of the journal Addiction outlined the Relative risk of injury from acute alcohol consumption

A total of 13 119 injured drinkers arriving at the ED within 6 hours of an injury event. Data was analyzed by gender and age, and all categories demonstrated no matter who you are, the more you drink the more likely you are to hurt yourself. Go Figure.
